FIRE Flammable.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.
Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding). Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE!

  • INHALATION
    		• Cough. Sore throat.
    		Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• Redness. Pain.
    		Protective gloves.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Redness. Pain.
    		Safety spectacles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION

    		• Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Rinse mouth. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
    		Fireproof.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     BROWN AMORPHOUS POWDER OR BLUISH-RED SOLID.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
     As a result of flow, agitation, etc., electrostatic charges can be generated. Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     Upon heating, toxic fumes are formed.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV (as Co dust): ppm; 0.05 mg/m3 (ACGIH 1991-1992).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

     The aerosol irritates the eyes and the respiratory tract.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:

    Cobalt naphthenate 6% in mineral spirits is also used; boiling point: >150░C, specific gravity (water=1): 0.94-0.98; vapour density (air=1): 4.9. The substance is combustible but no flash point is available in literature. Data are insufficiently available on the effect of this substance on human health, therefore utmost care must be taken.
